Guest notaliberal Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 anybody know how to tell TCPMP which network to use, or in any other way get it to access the wap network? Trying to stream radio with it, but it can never open the URL. I"ve only got the 5.99 t-zones plan, so I need it to use the proxy set up for the wap network. I'm only planning on using it for 16K mono sound, so the speed should be fine. Any help greatly appreciated!! Jeff
Guest notaliberal Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Or, for that matter, anybody able to do this with media player on their smartphone? i read a couple places that it was possible, but nobody ever seemed to day how they did it. i can access any websites through my t-zones and proxy, so surely there's a way to get ONE of these to work...right?
Guest martin Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 It depends if T-mobile actually allow streaming via their 5.99 t-zones plan :) I assume TCPMP and Windows Media applications are using the phones 'Internet Connection' by default so you could always try creating another GPRS connection with 'Connects to: The Internet' and then attaching it to the Internet Connection. This would attempt streaming without the proxy connection. If the above fails then try including the proxy with the following setup. 1 Change T-zones GPRS connection to 'Connects to: Work '. 2 Change proxy connection to 'Connects from: Work', 'Connects to: The internet' 3 Set 'Internet connection: T-zones' For Internet Explorer you will need to change 'Select Network: The Internet'. If it still fails then maybe that you need to upgrade you plan ;)
Guest notaliberal Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Hey, thanks for the suggestions. i'll try that as soon as I get home. Now (biting my tongue), with regards to t-mobile. I know they don't technically "allow" streaming over t-zones, but they also told me (after paying $200 to upgrade to my SDA) that the SDA users would not be able to use t-zones. Well, we all know how very NOT true that is - they're just trying to suck more money out of me. i was able to use t-zones with my motorola, but they said the SDA doens't have a compatible browser, and that I'd NEVER be able to get it to work. It'd be one thing if they were honest with me about it, but they totally tried to snowjob me and B.S. me into getting the now ridiculously over-priced internet plan for $29.99/mo SO..... I assume the streaming can still be bypassed, I jsut have to figure out a way to get media player or TCPMP to use the GPRS proxy that IE uses to access the internet. Make sense? I'll try the above and report back later. Thanks again!
Guest notaliberal Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Ugh. Still didnt' work. I was, however, still able to browse the internet with that configuration...strange... Anyways, here's my current config, wihch I should have included in the original post: GPRS Settings: T-Zones GPRS Connects to: The Internet Access Point: wap.voicestream.com everything else blank Proxy: T-Mobile Proxy (thanks to Abatis for this) Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP Network Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080 Type: HTTP With that, I am able to browse the internet freely with the $5.99/mo T-zones plan. I just can't get WMP, TCPMP, or Resco PocketRadio to actually connect to anything. Are they trying to access a port that somehow doesn't work with that proxy? I'm no proxy expert, so I have no idea. Any other ideas? Anybody? A registry hack or something to tell the players what connection or port to use? Thanks again for the suggestion, thanks in advance for the solution... ::crossing fingers optimistically::
