Guest preloaded Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Hi there, A long way back i had my first taste of Smartphones and Windows Mobile with a Motorola MP200. Loved the phone, loved the OS, but for some dumb reason, i went for a SonyEricisson 750i next. Big mistake. Anyway, after a painful wait for my next Orange upgrade to come round again, i've got myself an SPV m600, and again i'm liking it very much. As i've been away from the Smartphone "scene" for a while, i wanted to check a few things, so here we go... 1. My m600 runs WM5, can this run apps designed for WM2002/2003 or is it strictly only WM5 apps? 2. Can i run any PocketPC apps? 3. When i had my Motorola MP200 i had to unlock it to be able to run some apps on it. Is that something i should / need to do with my m600 too? If so can someone point me in the direction of unlocking my new device? 4. What are the must have apps / games since i was last eagerly installing them 18 months ago? 5. Finally, can someone tell me the screen pixel dimesions of my SPV m600, i'm struggling to find the info! Thanks everyone! :)
Guest danwatson1974 Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 hi, You may find this thread useful .... http://www.coolsmartphone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8169 It tells you how to get the M600 application unlocked. The screen, like the M500 before it, is 320 x 240 I think that most ppc2003 appswon't run on the M600 , but I may be wrong ... I am sure that if I am someone will correct me :) As to must have apps ... I am still on the M500 at the moment, so I haven't done a lot of research into this yet, but one thing that you might like to put on it is MSN Messenger , as it doesn't come pre loaded (!) http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news2266.html Hope this info is of some use ..... Cheers, Dan.
Guest funkychicken9000 Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 (edited) ...just to say modaco has seperate forums for Pocket PCs, scroll a bit further down the page and post there as technically thats what the M600 is. Took me a while to realise when I switched from C500 to MDA Compact II too :) [edit] BTW it's an HTC Prophet you've got, if that helps! Edited July 19, 2006 by funkychicken9000

So if the phone is a Pocket PC, should i be download the Pocket PC versions of apps rather than the ones labelled as for Smartphones. That's one of the things i'm finding confusing! Thanks for all the other info. ;)

Guest Laser_iCE Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 As for 2002/2003 compatability... Most applications do work, however some will either not function correctly, however, most that I have tried have worked :) Also, you CAN use WM5 Smartphone applications on your Pocket PC, too ;) Enjoy!
