I'm using a mail2web hosted exchange account. I have set my phone so that it updates 'as item arrives'. The service works fine except the cost is excessive for the gprs usage. I'm finding that my data usage is about 30mb a month even though I don't send/receive many emails. My question is.... why have push email when it's just as expensive as using pop mail which is set to automatically send and receive every 5 minutes!!?

I don't receive a high amount of emails so i don't understand why I'm getting such a high data charge.

any suggestions???

It is true that mail2web uses excessive data when having "when items arrive" option on.. But 30 mb per month? I might get 15 mb per month in mail2web usage but difficult to tell because I use the gprs for other things as well. Usually it uses 1kb per minute in heartbeat, which works out as 60 kb per hour or 1.4 mb per day, but i dont have it on all the time, usually it's closed 8-10 hours per day.

Good question - if you are prepared to have 30mb data a month either option would work for you. I run push email though and get all my emails per month with approx 15mb usage.
