Guest nikjensie Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Hey all, I was never a big time poster but I've been a member for quite some time now, and I had a falling out :) a while back where my Qtek 8100 merely became a phone, not the lifestyle my smartphones had been for a while. But now, I've been reborn and soon a proud(?) owner of a Wizard and I have some questions. Being a European, Swedish to be specific, I have visited the US once a year the last 6 years and with the Swedish leeches for carriers I always enjoy the trip, but not so much the cellphone bill waiting for me at home, so this time, having the Wizards WLAN capabilities I'm hoping to cut the data call rates down a bit. Although, we all know those hotspots aren't always so easy to find, so I figured I'd get a simple prepaid card in the US. Easier to keep track of usage and most likely MUCH cheaper rates (I pay $15/MB in the US with current carrier). Now, I've been looking around quite a bit but I can't find any info on this subject. Here in Sweden we basically buy a SIM-card package with an amount of money on it and you stick it in your phone and go, but it seems the US have different setups? Do you have to buy a phone in the package? Can anyone with experience (an american perhaps) give me a good tip on a carrier that would have this type of service I'm looking for? I'd really appreciate it! Best Regards, Niklas
