Smartphone 2003 SE - Deleting "Filters"

Ok so I cleared out the categories in Outlook down to a handful in the master category list. I have a few custom ones instead of the generic defaults Outlook gives. All my contacts fall into one or more of these new categories.

No other categories exist in the Master Cat List like I said. However, all the old categories still show on the smartphone.

Why? and how do I get rid of them
