I'm an accountant who is trying to translate a Spanish company's accounts into English. Most of it is easy enough but I'm stuck on one line.

In Spanish - "Fondos propios"

Per Google - "Own Bottoms"

Is that a weird Euro-financial concept or is there a better translation ?

its probably something similar to the google translation but when put into a contex it means something slightly different. what context is it in? just a column in a table or block of text?

Perhaps it's an insult and the first part of the sentence is "up ones" :)

It's the name of an account in the Creditors / Provisions / Liabilities / Capital section.

I've only got access to the abbreviated accounts unfortunately :)

not a clue then, sorry mate. just that sometimes you get stuff in spanish that translates literally to a load of crap but when put in context it means something slightly different that makes sense. possibly something to do with expenses? but thats just guessing :(

:) but then agen mine survived several dunkings in orange juice and misc liquids..... and it still works no matter how much i mistreat it :P

Does "Own funds" mean anything to you?

It does and it doesn't, if you see what I mean.

"Own Funds" is quite vague in accounting terms but I think I can fit it into a UK template from the gist of it. :)
