The US T-Mobile MDA ROM update was just released: http://msmobiles.com/news.php/5426.html -- that must mean the SDA update is around the corner....?

Yes, it was supposed to be released at the same time, but for some reason it has been delayed. From what I hear, it should be out by next week.

finally! a new rom! :)

Does that mean it's actually out now, or are you just excited at the fact that it *supposedly* will be soon?

I only ask because I'm watching this topic and am really anxious to try a new ROM. I'm using the stock SDA ROM and am hoping a new one will fix some of the annoyances I have...

I predict (hopefully incorrectly) that we'll see 1 ROM update for the SDA, and that'll be it. Newer ROM's might be had from iMate, etc -- but they're not T-Mobile service (towers) specific. My main reason for downgrading back to the T-Mobile ROM from the newer iMate one: there's a lot less of that 'searching' message going on -- it finds a T-Mobile connection faster and holds it stronger. Liked all the improvements in the iMate ROM, but hated the constant 'searching...' for a signal. So... like the new ROM when it comes out, I don't think they'll be spewing out others...

Not sure if it'll be the same for the SDA, but, when the MDA update came out -- msmobiles.com posted a link to the file located at t-mobile.com -- while you could get the file via that link, it didn't appear on the T-Mobile support page for the MDA until a few days later. It wasn't until a week had passed that the file appeared at the america.htc.com site, which was actually a link to the t-mobile support site.

So... watch msmobiles.com -- they seem to have the file links first.

Still waiting... any news...?

I heard from a different source that they're not going to bother with an SDA update, since the SDA was a flop for T-Mobile.

You should get a reliable source, especially if you're going to quote them. I doubt that's the case at all, sounds more like something you made up

Did I ever quote anybody? I just post the info that I get from people... If I was quoting them, there would be quotes around it, and a citation.

T-Mobile is a company that likes to change their mind a thousand times during a project. In fact, both of the things that I said were probably true, at the time that I said them. As someone who worked directly with (and across) from the engineering project managers at tmo for somewhere around 6 years, I know pretty well how things operate :) However, as I no longer work there, I can only rely on third party information.

For information that I know to be 100% true (few and far between with them) I will say that. If it's not guaranteed accurate, I won't claim that it is.

Better than nothing, right?

In any case, feel free to believe me or not. It doesn't matter much to me either way :(

Just wishful thinking... If I had to guess, I'd say there would be 1 ROM update, but no more. Sounds like you're in a much better position to make a guess though.
