Guest smitcopleyhill Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Hey there :) I currently have a C500 and i'm looking for a new phone and wondered if anyone has any recommendations? I'd like it to be a smartphone and wi-fi is not necessary. It has to be available on pay as you go and buying a used one from ebay is not a problem. Budget is around
Guest spacerace Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 The qtek is a slightly bigger form factor than the C500 - not by much but it is noticable when you hold it in your hand. it also has WiFi. the closest model for size is the Orange SPV C600 which is very similar to the C500 but does NOT have WiFi. It's closing between
Guest smitcopleyhill Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Thanks for the comment spacerace :) i don't think i'll go for the C600, it's too much like the C500. The q-tek 8310 is a bit different so i think i'll go for that one!!
Guest spacerace Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 No problem There is also the 8300 which is the music orentiated version of the same phone. It looks similar to the Orange C550 but like the 8310 runs WM5 and has WiFi etc. Depends if you think the dedicated music buttons would be useful...
Guest smitcopleyhill Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Am i right in thinking the i-mate sp5 is the same as the 8310 and the i-mate sp5m/spv c600 is the same as the 8300. It's confusing when there's so many names for the same phone! One more thing - in your name it says your device is a c500 wm5. Did you flash it yourself and is it stable?

Qtek 8300 = Imate SP5m = HTC Tornado - Tempo different names, for differents resellers, each one put his label / design on it :)

Guest smitcopleyhill Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Well thankyou both for your replies. Any reason why Orange had wifi removed, seems a bit daft to me!
Guest Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 Well thankyou both for your replies. Any reason why Orange had wifi removed, seems a bit daft to me! theory behind it is that they were afraid they loose revenue if they left it in. ie. people could use wifi as opposed to GPRS for data and possibly people could use VOIP over wifi too!
