Guest glinja Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 ;) hi, not really a problem, more of solution! Ive had problems with a c500 handset (though it was given to me so im not moaning), but the "back" key and the green call button, were really hard to work, ie a really hard thumbpress which was only 50% successful!!. I nearly reverted back to my nokia, and (very nearly)bought a new keypad off fleabay, but then had a brainwave. I was oiling my sons bike with WD40, and looked at the back of the tin and it stated about freeing up sticky mechanisms etc, so i though what the hell, and gave the keys a spray!!. Well i left the phone overnight, on its side so the WD40 could run out onto a kitchen roll, and hey presto.....good as new!! :) Not needed to take it apart or anything.... bl**dy fantastic. Now ive sprayed all the keys, and the phone is better than ever ha ha. please dont hold me responsible if this knackers your phone, i tried this as a last ditch attempt, but hey it worked!! :D
Guest Kwen Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 wtf, WD40 on a cellphone keypad? Using it on a bike is already nuts LOL I repeat, WD40 IS NOT A LUBRIFICANT, BUT MORE LIKE A SOLVENT (works great on rusted parts)
Guest fluffcat1 Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 IIRC part of the WD40 compound is light petroleum distillate? If so it will eat the rubberised keys...maybe not immediatley but......? Richard
