Guest FlangeArtist Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Interesting to note that compared to the Vario1, the Vario 2 is: -22mm Narrower -4.5mm shorter +2.95mm thicker +5.25hrs talk time -1 1/3 days standby +16g weight +Video Calling + extra 1MP camera resolution (from 1.2 to 2mp) +Camera flash Sure there are more, but this is what I can quickly see. How do I know these differences? Vario1 @ http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/Dispatcher?payme..._phones_details Vario2 @ http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/handset...ail/pay_monthly

Guest chucky.egg Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 It's always hard to tell, but I think some of your figures are a bit off. "-22mm Narrower" would be 2.2cm, for example One of the problems is the networks introduce their own inaccuracies, so two networks with the same device report different attributes for them! I don't know that it's accurate, but there's a good side-by-side comparison facility at PDAdb.net http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&a...558&id2=356
Guest darrenackers Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 Also has these: 3G capabilities Faster processor 400Mhz compared to 195Mhz More RAM 128MB comparted to 64MB
Guest richard_hogg Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 Hmm, But is the CPU actually faster in real terms as it's the Samsung rather than the OMAP and if it's the same CPU as the Magician (IIRC), then I've not seen it as any faster on my wife's MDA Compact against my Vario, though that could be down to all the T-mobile pre-installed crud.
Guest Pondrew Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 The Magician had an Intel Bulverde processor. In truth I'd guess the Intel Bulverde would probably be faster then this Samsung processor but I still expect the Samsung to outperform the Texas Instruments OMAP processor... :)
