Guest nedge2k Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 [teaser] Remember that cheap and cheerful little Smartphone, the HTC Oxygen? The one we saw at this year's MoDaCo event as the Orange C100? Well, the guys over at SoloPalmari have got their hands on one and have knocked up a little review...[/teaser] It's in Italian but the tagline of the article seems to suggest that it doesn't give the impression of an entry level device. Unfortunately, that's where I'd have to disagree. When I had a play with the Oxygen at the event, it didn't feel all that great, the screen resolution was a mere 176x220 and the quality of the screen itself was quite poor. Very entry level if you ask me. Interestingly though, this device seems to have Bluetooth 2.0 and a miniSD slot, unlike the device we saw at the MoDaCo event which instead took sim+ cards. If this device interests you, head on over to the (translated) review HERE. via: SmartphoneThoughts
Guest bennish Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 (edited) That's a beautiful device. I'm trying to get my money-and-aesthetics-conscious girlfriend into windows mobile... good mix of all the necessaries :) No offence to anyone but definitely more attractive than the spv C's (with the possible exception of that modaco one of course ;) ) If only they would make a ppcpe like this... Guest nedge2k Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 They have: g-Smart g-Smart i and g-Smart i128 (same as 'i' but more ram) g-Smart i120 and g-Smart i300 ...all made by Gigabyte but unfortunately none of them are out on UK networks and it is doubtful they ever will be :)
Guest akuma3d Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Looks like a rubermaid trash can to me. :) The screen is the trash flap... Eddie ;)
Guest bennish Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 yes but i mean the form factor of this one, with gsmart functionality. the gsmarts aren't too smart...
Guest Metoo Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 (edited) ...all made by Gigabyte but unfortunately none of them are out on UK networks and it is doubtful they ever will be :) That's probably a Good Thing. Given the negative reviews on the g-smart/i-bond/unitec (including your own) and the total lack of manufacturer support for these devices, I'd give anything made by Gigabyte an extremely wide berth. Expansys have even had to rebrand the g-smart as "UBiQUiO" and provide their own support (and ROM fixes) to try and shift them! Edited August 17, 2006 by Metoo
