Guest scottb Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Are you using the advanced version of Opera Mini? Try the standard version.
Guest luchino_san Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 first of all, thanks for your reply ;) ....can you please post a link of this standard version of opera mini you're talking about? I think I didn't understood which is :) ciao, Luca
Guest luchino_san Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 (edited) I've just found that opera mini has also a great support forum....this is the FAQ: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic...#comment1415428 It seems that this softkey problem is quite common :) Thank you, I hope the link will be useful anyway ;) Edited August 9, 2006 by luchino_san
Guest rockykabir Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 This sp, at least here in Italy, doesn't have a pre-installed midlet manager like htc smartphones and ppc phone edition (intent), so I installed the websphere micro environment (IBM J9). This midp works well on the phone and infact I'm able to use google maps (it works like a charm!) Great stuff Luca! ;) - thanks for the great insight. I'm looking to purchase the i320 - you mentioned about Google Maps and the IBM J9 - can Googlemaps be accessed directly? (i.e. is there a logo of Google maps on the menu which you can easily access with one click - or do you have to access through a midlet manager?). Hope you enjoy it :)

Guest scottb Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 @luchino_san, I am guessing by now you have found the basic version of Opera Mini. A question for you--does your device vibrate when data is being transferred on Opera Mini? I have tried two different Java browsers, Opera Mini and Minuet, both cause my Motorola Q to vibrate whenever data is being transferred. I can only assume it is the J9 environment causing it.
Guest stesa Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 hi luchino , look at your battery !!!! its already down :)

I searched around the web but there is only a version for Windows Mobile 2003. I tried to install it on my SGH-i320 but it did not work. Can you help- Michael Edited August 13, 2006 by michaelm

Guest allbulkmail Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Thanks a lot Scottb!! You were right, the basic version works!!....it isn't fast like the advanced version I used on the htc tornado but it can do almost the same things...however I hope they'll fix the problems with the advanced version very soon!! :) Hi luchino_san! I'm in Los Angeles and am planning on buying this phone i320n. Is there a website I can get it at? I do have friends around there too. Where is the best place to buy it? And how much did YOU buy it for? thanks, Raju

Guest luchino_san Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 I asked help for the Opera Mini trouble in the support forum (very good forum!)...if someone would help me (mostly with english language :) ) I will appreciate it very much ---> http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=154387 Thank you!
Guest scottb Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 I think your English is fine. :) You have described the issue clearly, but I don't know how much Opera will be able to do. They are likely to say the problem is within the MIDP implementation. Since J9 is really the only Java option for Smartphone, I don't know what else can be done.

I hope that samsung will fix this problem in some next upgrade (??? ;) )... Edited August 17, 2006 by luchino_san
