Webcamming/Video conversations with msn messenger?

I've read the guides "Use your Smartphone as webcam" using the softcam software to stream desktop to output. But my question is, are there smartphones out there where the OS will recognize the built in camera to work with msn messenger to webcam?

I want to purchase a smartphone with wifi support, so that when I'm in a hotzone, I can msn video conversation with my msn contacts (without the hassle of using the softcam software, direct streaming only)

Anyone with experience with this?

If not, is it possible to connect a usb webcam to the smartphone, so that the OS will pick it up and can use it with msn messenger also? Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks in advance!

No and No. It is possible to use the phone as a webcam on your laptop but not to use the cam on your phone for IM'ing over the phone's wifi/gprs connections.

I am sure someone will work out a way to get the newer 3g and wifi devices (like the Hermes) to use the videocall cam for something but as Pocket MSN and messenger mobile don't support video its a long shot.

Microsoft were working on a beta called Portrait - that I think you can download still - that was aimed at low bandwidth videocalls.

With the installed "plug-in" called Portrait, the software recognizes the built-in camera on the phone? and can use it to stream data directly from the input of the built-in camera on my smartphone to my msn contacts?

Anyone with experience with Portrait, and it's limitations?

it works via active sync so therefore you can use it via bluetooth as well!

Unless you had a 3G enabled device, ala Hermes.
