Guest gohome190 Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Hey, I downloaded a great program called "Smartphone Media Converter" that simply converted any DVD's I put in to that great mobile format, 3gpp. I was a trial that didn't last for long. So, do you guys know any other good converters like this one? thanks
Guest Geeklord Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 I use ffmpeg. I haven't tried to convert to 3gp, but it can. I use it more for Mpeg4v or divx. it's commercial with a free trial mode, but your trial period doesn't expire. the controls take a bit of getting used to to get it to do what you want. but after that, it's ok. I'll try to look for the site and post you a link.
Guest odt Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 i use a standard DVD to AVI program (cant remember the name, i'll post it later from home), and then use 'PocketDivxEncoder' to convert the file for use with TCPMP. Works with fantastic quality on the QVGA screen when set to convert to PPC rather than smartphone.
Guest gohome190 Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Thanks, I hope you can get a site where I can d/l that 'verter.
Guest gohome190 Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Oh yeah, and is there a program that can convert a copyrighted DVD? I just wanna use it for personal use.
Guest masahiro Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Hi guys, If you are really enthusiastic about converting your videos, get this SUPER VIDEO CONVERTER. This is really a cool converter. This can convert almost any input video format into any video format you desire. The only thing you need is patience to know the settings for each kind of format. And you know what ....... it's totally FREE!!!. So, rush to download it from the following site, http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html Hopefully, enjoy using it. Goodluck, masahiro :D
Guest mini_man Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 best one i think which is dead simple to use is Slysoft Clone DVD Mobile. You can convert to 3gp and divx avi all good size and quality. If you also download anydvd it removes copyright from it allowing you to convert the dvd. Works great! But wouldnt you be better with converting for smartphone instead of 3gp?

Goodluck, masahiro :D Super is great but it doesn't handle dvd input. So you'd have to convert it to a format it does support first then convert it using Super. It also doesn't work well for smartphones (doesn't offer a small enough resolution). It's great for converting files from youtube or google to something pocketdivx (or lathe) can work with though. btw I guess I'd use the same method odt does (convert to divx then use pocketdivx on it). It adds an extra step but I think you'd have more control over the final product (at least if you use something like gordian knot initially). Of course I've never actually bothered to do it, I prefer to watch tv shows on my phone (I never have 90 minutes to kill at one stretch, but who hasn't waited 20 minutes to see the doctor or something).
