Hi Guys,

I am thinking of buying a laptop to use at my caravan at weekends, but there is no landline connection to the internet, so I was thinking that I could connect to the internet in the following way.....

Use a Bluetooth dongle with my laptop to connect to my SPV C600 smartphone, then use the SPV C600 modem to connect to the internet via Bluetooth. This should enable me to surf the net on my laptop via my SPV C600 smartphone.

I had thought about using a 'Vodafone 3G' card for the laptop but it is quite expensive as they want you to subscribe for 12 months at

You have several options:

- Use bluetooth like you're saying. Remember it will impact battery life having bluetooth on all that time. Go to accessories menu and turn on modem link. Then just pair the devices and it will find a new dial up device. Dial *99# and it'll connect through your phone using GPRS.

- As above, but use the USB cable. This makes much more sense as your laptop will charge your phone at the same time

- Get a 2G or 3G datacard + sub like you're saying

- Get a 2G or 3G datacard from ebay. Then buy a T-mobile pay as you go. You can look up the exact rates, but the important thing is they are doing a cap of

Hi Kam,

Sorry for the delay in replying but i have been on holiday.

I have tried to set it up as you have described but have not been successfull.

Could you be more detailed in what you mean by 'Pair the devices' because I cant seem to do this.

I have installed Activesync on the laptop and connected the spv c500 to it ok, but how do I get the laptop to access the internet via the spv c500's modem. I have tried to dial *99# but all the spv c500 screen reads is 'waiting' and nothing happens.

I have tried to setup an internet connection using the laptop's connection wizard but nothing seems to work no matter what option I choose. I have connected the spv c500 to the laptop via a usb cable and can access the phone no problem, but I dont know how to connect to the internet.

Please could you give me a step by step guide cos this is really starting to do my head in now.

All I want to do is connect to the internet on my laptop via my spv c500's modem.

Cheers...dez16v ( [email protected] ) 18/09/06
