Anyone from UK tried this yet?

I'm running 2.0.11.0. Can anyone tell me what advantages updating would have for me?

TIA

monkeygadge and anyone else with an O2 UK XDA IQ:

DO NOT under any circumstances try this update on your HTC Tornado's. The O2 XDA Phone is NOT an HTC Tornado like the SP5/XDA IQ. It is an HTC Douton which was a stop gap between the HTC Hurricane (whose case it shares) and the HTC Tornado. It DOES share the same processor as the Tornado and is quad band but doesn't have wifi.

I wouldn't be surprised if attempting to install this rom on the XDA IQ corrupted the bootloader or at least left the device with reduced functionality.

Besides, the latest XDA IQ rom in the UK, the 2.0.11.0 rom, is already AKU2.

wouldnt corrupt the bootloader as the ROM's are the same 'length' so you COULD flash it but you'd have to manually regedit back in wifi etc... really REALLY not worth it...

Cheers for the info guys. Guess that confirms that the HTC Douton belongs to the HTC Tornado platform. Suppose it's similar to the HTC Faradey (spelling?).

I'm still gonna stick with the O2 UK AKU2 rom that came with my XDA IQ...

Faraday :) named after an inventor? and yes the HTC Doulton belong to the Tornado family (QVGA, WM5 and TI OMAP 850) It's a C600 in a C550 shell so really its kind of a c650 what with the music buttons ;)

And yes, would be best to stick with your operator/provider ROMs and NOT void youir waranty :D

2.10.56.4_4.1.13.09_02.19.01_O

PS: anyone post the official link please?

Long answer: The version numbers between operators vary and quite often cannot be compared. Even when they are arrived at in the same way quite often some of the digits will just indicate country of release with other numbers representing the major and minor build variations.

Short answer: I don't know. :)

Really isnt going to much difference in the ROMs, theyre both AKU2 and not worth reg editing wifi back your comm manager, replacing keyboard drivers etc....

The XPhone rom is also older then the O2UK XDA IQ rom. That's version 2.0.11.0.

No probs monkeygadge, we've all been guilty of that.

The Douton is not a stop gap and was released about the same time if not slightly after the SP5.

It's closest relation is the C600 with a bit of SM5m thrown in for good measure :)

Don't forget even though it looks like a C550 it's nothing like it so don't go tying to update your C550 with it.

As I proved (on purpose) a while ago
