I wonder if there's any way to stop PIE from cluttering my device memory with its useless cache.

It's more the time it spends writing and reading from it than it renders the page.

Opera doesn't do cache and it's blazing fast (but is pay-ware and has bugs with CE 5.0)...

And anyway I don't need it being connected with a fast wi-fi connection.

Anyone knows how to do that?

(I'm NOT interested in moving the cache int the storage card, because as a result I would end up clearing the cache less often and clutter more the storage card)

I've found a program called tweaks 2K2 that pretends it can disable the PIE cache, but I don't trust it so much... did you try it?

many thanks

bye bye

EDIT: see the link: http://www.tweaks2k2.com/portal/staticpage...050224182009983 (it's the PPC version though)

I dont think you can do it.

IE architecture works that way that it doesnt "render from memory", it must download page to local storage/file before it will actually render it.

So best you can achieve is to trim cache ("Temporary Internet Files") to some small size. But you cant eliminate it, because its not just cache, as name suggests its also temporary folder.

Of course why PocketIE does it allow this folder to grow indefinitely is entirely beyond me.

oh,well, i had forgotten that!!

but it's 10000x fast than PIE...

Anyway the whole issue with PIE on my phone, other than having to clear the cache every 2 webpages :) , is that many times when I put it under stress (continued navigation for more than, say, 20 pages) it slows down and eventually hangs completely, hanging also the rest of the phone... at that point only a soft-reset helps. It's neither a matter of free space, nor of terminating PIE and restarting it. If it will hang, it will do one way or another.

btw, paul, another question... why when I reply to a thread i'm not subscribed to, and I check the box to subscribe to it, I don't get subscribed at all? It takes at least 2 posts to receive any notification! (for instance I didn't receive the notification for your 3 replies!)

many thanks
