ActiveSync +?

I have just returned to Windows Mobile (SPV M3100) after a year of a Sony K750 and I am sure that ActiveSync used to do more.

I think when I had my C500 I could sync it to a calendar and contacts folder in Outlook which I chose rather than the default one. Am I miss remembering or have things changed. If I am right and you can't anymore, does anyone know of an app that will let me sync to the folder I want.
