Guest Thetechnogeek Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 (edited) Just want to share some "definitive" info I have now received from HTC regarding the frequency/band of the Mteor. Out of the box, the Mteor does 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz GSM, GPRS and EDGE. It does not cover the 850MHz band at all. 3G-wise it does 2100MHz UMTS ONLY, and will not be upgradable to cover any other 3G band. This effectively means no 3G in the US (which begs the question as to why there is a "US Band" setting in the phone "band type" menu). This basically summarises exchanges with a nice chap at HTC over the last few days, so I am reasonably confident this is right. Disappointing? Yes. Show stopper for me in the UK? No. But I'd bet our US colleagues are less than happy :) Edit: Just spotted this post: http://www.modaco.com/CONFIRMED-MTeoR-lack...nd-t243875.html but hopefully the above also clarifies the situation with 3G Edited August 15, 2006 by Thetechnogeek
Guest Pondrew Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Well, no 3G in the US explains Pagemakers post here. Don't know if he realised the reason he wasn't getting 3G though was because the device wasn't capable rather then no signal where he was!

Don't know if he realised the reason he wasn't getting 3G though was because the device wasn't capable rather then no signal where he was! HTC have now changed their product info, so at least the original source of misinformation is fixed. Good for those who have not yet bought a Mteor, not so good for those that have :) http://www.europe.htc.com/z/pdf/content/17...oR_LFLT_OUT.PDF
