Guest Wozbacca Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 what with the new funky stereo bluetooth function on the m3100, im tempted to buy some wireless headphones but i was wondering if anyone has had any experience of them in the past? my initial concern is that the batterylife would drop dramatically while playing mp3s over bluetooth, but what about the sound quality? also, i've only seen a few stereo bluetooth headsets, and they all look a bit bulky. any comments?

I'm also interested in this. I guess they'll all be a bit bulky as they need a bluetooth receiver, so you won't get in-ear ones. The Abe BT55D ones looked interesting, but couldn't find any reviews at all. I think Logitech do some as well.
Guest steveA Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 I'm going to get this guy, the Jabra BT620 > click here. It retails for about
Guest Funster Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 If you feel brave you could try the Nokia HS-12W. It's available here on special offer. I'm in the market for some stereo bluetooth headphones and I'd be interested to know what else is available. Cheers Funster
Guest Disco Stu Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 See my mini-review in post #29 in this thread :)
Guest jimbouk Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 you can get bt headphones which look like normal headphones (like the blueband ones on sale in orange shops) or you can get a bt adapter that allows you to plug your normal headset (ie in ear buds) to it.

I'm waiting for the BT stereo headset shown on the HTC website - http://www.europe.htc.com/products/accessories.html Not released yet - not sure when it's due either. I'm hoping it has a 3.5mm jack so you can plug any headphones into it.
Guest pete.major Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 I bought the Plantronic Pulsar 590a Pulsar on the Register Basically, they're ok. I bought in the Orange shop around Xmas for an outrageous amount. The biggest annoyance I had with them was the flashing LEDs on the side - like a lighthouse, not subtle. You definitely could NOT wear them at night without attracting serious attention to yourself. I finally got the guts to break open the casing and modify it to completely prevent the LED from flashing. Other than that...the sound is only *ok*AVRDP (or whatever it's called - remote FF, rew etc) works wellworks great with skype on PCbit hot on the ears after a whilebattery life about 8-10 hoursAll in all, I wish I hadn't bought them... I'd like something more discrete. Like the Nokia HS-12W mentioned earlier. Only problem is the wires hanging around you neck seem to defeat the purpose to me... Good luck
Guest wesbar Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Do you think these SE HBH-DS970's will work. They look really smart. http://www.bengalboy.com/modules/newbb/vie...527&start=0 Does the SPV3100 support AVRCP?

Guest Wozbacca Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 i quite like the idea of getting the jabra fella, as its a respectable make and one that i reckon loads of other people on here will be getting. quite useful if we ever have any compatability issues or anything... i saw a review for the Motorola HT820 which also said about the DC800 which enables connectivity to any other audio output. quite cunning i thought are there any other little gadgets that do this?

I have the Jabra BT620s, and it works real nice, but not with the TyTN i had. I when I get a new set it will be the one that BengalBoy tested...looks awesome. Expansys have them for about
Guest a.j.daniels Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 How about the Nokia one that has the FM radio built in? Anyone know about the sound quality ./ compatibility? Like the idea of having an FM radio built in as the handset obviously is missin this.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 FWIW, I'm just doing A2DP testing with Hermes atm, and will let you know if I succeed in getting reliable output! i.e. I don't with the factory settings (music breakup) P

Guest daddyo Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 @ dolphinsmile ignore all those questions about the itech clip S35 BT I got one anyway. How are you getting on with yours? firstly i've been using the fit4cat tweaker which has an A2DP quality improvememt tweak - unfortunately the tweak makes the quality worse so i've tuned it off and the music quality is not too bad when playing through my car stereo. However, I need to try some decent headphnes with the unit because the ones supplied sound very tinny! Secondly, when you first pair the device, media player plays through the headset ok. If you then go out of range, when you return the headset re-pairs ok for the phone but the media player doesn't and it plays through the loudspeaker. You have to enter BT settings and recheck the stereo music option to have the sound through the headset again. Do you experience this? Thirdly, I have the S35 outputting through my car stereo. When people are calling me they can hear an echo (of themselves speaking as the sound comes out through the car speakers). There is some sort of delay i suppose but this is very annoying. I'm not sure why its happening because when I tried the headset using my Sony Ericsson W800i there was no such echo! therfore, is the echo problem an A2DP thing (as the w800i does not support it and this works ok) or is it a m3100 thing? To test this I could turn off A2DP and ry the headset again - is this possible? any suggestions appreciated
Guest Syphon Filter Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Did you notice this little nugget on the bengalboy site? "which the Spider all worked with and did a good job of performing as it should. However, when I tried to use it with the New AKU2 Qtek ROM upgrade on my Universal, I encountered horrible skipping, playback and feature performance. I thought at the time it must be the new ROM experiencing some teething pains, but, then the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 "WalkMan" Stereo Bluetooth Headset came to me. Since that day my Universal has developed a completely different "iPod'ish" personality and the HBH-DS970 "WalkMan" has become my everyday bluetooth headset replacing my NextLink AX2" Hmmmm, I wonder............? Although it says further down "t does exhibit a few bugs though, incoming calls can cause you to lose the "stereo" feature during playback. Either the music is playing and you don't hear it...or the volume is noticeably lower. On my Universal it requires me to reset the device to put everything back to normal and could be the ROM of the phone and not the HBH-DS970, but it is an issue. Also, during the Universals message retrieving cycle, the sound does break up some, but once the Universal has disconnected from the server everything goes back to normal." I did Dr. Interesting that it's happening on other devices as well as the TyTN! Those Sony ones are BT2.0 I wonder if that has helped...I dont know what the BT620s uses....
Guest Dr Who Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 I did Dr. Interesting that it's happening on other devices as well as the TyTN! Those Sony ones are BT2.0 I wonder if that has helped...I dont know what the BT620s uses.... I wonder if it is done to the fact that the music stream is recoded on the fly causing excessive processor overload? In which case it is either completely fatal for the current generation devices OR might be solved by tweaks/lowering the bit rate of the music files. Anyone know if the processing that goes on is optimised for a particularly type of compression? I am guessing .wma files may require less work to recode just because the Windows OS is optimised for this codec? Could be talking nonsense though. BTW the Jabras are BT 1.2.................Anyone got a BT2.0 headset to try the stereo audio/wifi thing with?
