XDA EXEC Firmware Failure - USB Device not recognised

Hi - Hope somebody can help me,

Tried to update the firmware on my O2 XDA Exec to 1.30.162, I had the XDA attached, Axtive sync connected and all appeared OK, launched the exe and when I clicked go the process started, approx 1 minute later a windows notification appeared stating that a Device had malfunctioned and the USB device was not recognised.

My XDA just sits there now displaying USB v1.00, I have tried uninstalling the USB device with no joy - get the same error each time.

I can hard reset it but then I'm stuck with the original firmware, once I have performed a hard reset Windows picks it up via active sync with no problems, as soon as I try to flash again though I get the same message - USB device not recognised....!!!!!

Has anybody else experienced this and if so what's the resolution?

Ok - seem to be making a little progress,

Tried a Hard reset - same result (whilst connected via USB)

In Device manager I uninstalled all USB devices (had 1 showing as Unknown Device), performed a hard reset again and then refreshed devices - this time it installs as a Windows CE USB Hub > Microsoft USB Sync

I reran the firmware upgrade exe and eventually got the error message: Error 201 Get Device Data Error

I disconnected the XDA then reconnected at which point it installed as an Unknown device again.

Any ideas?

OK

- finnaly seem to have sorted it - just kept uninstalling USB devices in Device manager then performing a soft reset - eventauly the firmware exe managed to get device information and updated the firmware.

Key points to note here are:

Device must show up in device manager under Microsoft CE Device

Seems a good idea to leave the device for a few minutes once it has been found and installed in device manager before running the firmware exe.

Hope this helps someone else out there

just like to thankyou, you are a life saver, as by MDs exec failed during a firmware update, and using the steps above, it now appears to be updating (touch wood !) thanks again
