Guest skanna Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 I have recently bought an SP5 sim free to replace my C500. I have been using the SPV range since its inception and the C500 has been excellent over the last 18 months. I didnt see any point getting a C600 and I bought a SP5 instead (WIFI etc) I must say that I am a little disappointed. The phone seems very buggy. I have since loaded a new ROM from the Imate website but its still seems slow compared to the c500 especially the start menus. Many of the applications I bought for the c500 don't work properly due to the change in operating system and the resolution. I cant seem to use the Binarys Task Manager to close applications. The internal task manager seems to continually run, you cannot exit the program. In fact the only plus point is the WIFI. I am still using my C500 as my main phone and the SP5 is at home. I use my phone for work and the C500 has been a very powerful tool. I have been adding programs to it and customising it to my requirements for the past year. Its now difficult to change to a new phone when some of your essential programs dont work. Has anyone else found the phone so much slower than the C500?

Has anyone else found the phone so much slower than the C500? you do get used to it being slightly less responsive ... I think that is due to wm5 rather than the hardware. The wifi and screen res more than make up for it though What apps aren't working for you?
Guest skanna Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 The software that do not work are Oxios Tasks, Clearvue Suite, most of the games emulators( smaller screen), my homescreen which took me ages to perfect and I have had on my E200,C500. I know I need to upgrade some of the purchased software which will incure a charge. Other programs may be available to upgrade such as the Gameboy emulator. The homescreen will take some time to correct. so all of these problems are fixable. However the phone still has issues, such as a low memory problem if I try to open more than one program at a time. For example if I open file explorer and locate an audio file and try and select it. WMP may open and then a low memory warning will come up. If I then open the task manager to check what is running, nothing may be actually running and the available memory is over 20mb?? This also sometimes causes the homescren to lock. That is, if I press the Start Button, the word 'Start' will appear at the top of the screen, but the list of programs will not come up. Therefore you cannot navigate the phone. You can only select programs that appear in the icon bar (MRU) on your homescreen. Sticking to the C500 for the moment. I have had to soft reset the SP5 at least once a day to free up memory!

Clearvue Suite - surely you got a new version on your imate disc pretty much all the emulators have been rebuilt for the bigger screen. Check out the modaco games forum you want your 176x220 homescreen to work on a 320x240 screen? you're going to have to tweak it as for your memory problems. they do not sound good. You may have a dodgy ROM. what version is it?
