Guest cuchulain Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Been frying my brain all day thinking of how to remap the 'Pocket Internet Explorer' button (the one above the volume buttons) to another program (in my case the speaking clock). All of the information below was compiled by me , after reading many posts on this site , with snippets of information I needed, one of which wason the sp5 threads, written by mamar that is the backbone to this post ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Heres how I did it using the pc, mainly .... The button we want to reassign has a simple shortcut file to it on the c600 in the windows file. To get to it .. ON Your Phone , Open 'file explorer' and change the settings to allow you to see hidden and system files On your PC Open Active sync, explore your phone, go to your windows folder , find a file called short_poc.lnk, copy it to your pc's desktop, and open it with a text editor. It should have a single line of text like 23#"\Windows\iexplore.exe" simply change the line of text to point at whatever exe file you want , even on your storage card , in my case i changed it to 23#"\Storage Card\clock\speakingclock.exe" save the file on your pc desktop as short_poc.lnk , and then copy it back to your windows folder on your phone , and hit the internet button , and you will have whatever program you pointed it to running , (again in my case it speaks the time!) Don't know if this will be any use to anyone , but I have gained a lot of very useful knowledge from this forum and just wanted to give a little back ! This process is to be done at your own risk , it worked well for me and hopefully will for you. neil :D
