My MTeor looses connection settings and mail account

From time to time (approximately once a week) my MTeor looses its connection settings. This makes it impossible to connect to the internet, wap, etc. In addition, my POP mail account is deleted.

By restoring a previous backup (using Sprite backup) I'm able to restore these settings and the account, but it's quite frustrating.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, mine did this after turning it off and on for the first time.

But that has been the only time so far during the 2 weeks I have had it.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I hard reset and it did it again. I hard reset a second time and it did it again :D

....and once it has lost your mail settings you can not create the account again because it says the account name already exists!

Nope. No solution. Crap really.

HTC WWE MTeoR

Radio : 1.06.00.10

RIL Version: 2.002

ROM: 1.13.251.2

Protocol: 32.37.7010.01H

The best solution I've got so far is to backup regularly using Sprite Backup and restore only the system settings when this happens.

My tasks, calendar, documents, etc, are not reverted as those are not part of the system settings.

Sorry. That's not the point. The damn phone should not loose these settings full stop.

Every smartphone I've had from the original SPV upwards has not done this so I don't expect a fifth or sixth generation phone to do this either.

(not getting at you BTW).

I spoke to italian HTC customer care.

there's a "block" of units with software problems around europe. you can only solve the problem by flashing the unit with a new software.

the update is only available at HTC repair service.

there's no solution to the battery life problem. the only response to that could be a new improved battery on the market soon. the qualcomm chipset is too "hungry" when in 3g mode.

Thanks for the info. Strange they haven't released the software like every other smartphone manufacturer does.

this is exactly what I told them.

they had no reply to this remark.

hope to solve the problem soon and to find the battery as soon as possible.
