HELP! Can't unlock audiovox smt5600

I've spent hours on this and I haven't made any progress.

I've downloaded the 3 step software for unlocking my audiovox smt5600 however when I boot up I'm presented with a simlock screen which says there's a network lock and asks me for an unlock code.

I did a hard reset but I still get the same result. Is there some standard code like 12345 that will let me in?

The phone was locked to Cingular and I have a new Rogers sim card in it. If I take the card out I just get a message saying missing or invalid sim card and I still can't get past that screen.

- Do I need to use the original sim - which of course isn't unavailable since I bought this on ebay

- anyone know if this web site works: http://www.imei-check.co.uk/c500unlock.php

before I spend 30 GPB (about $60 canadian).

I'm dyin to use this great looking phone so any help or advice at all would be appreciated.
