Guest danktuft Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 (edited) Hello, my first post on this forum. I'd like to know if I can use the SIM card from my work phone (Treo 600) in the SPV M3100 and expect it to work well. I know I won't get all the 3G features but could I still use all the GPRS stuff? Secondly I'd like to know if anyone here has migrated from Palm to WM5 and if they have what were the difficulties that they ran into? Thanks for any help/advice given. Hello and welcome to Modaco :D Yes, you can use any 3v sim card in your M3100, as long as the smartphone is not sim locked (generaly the case when buyed with an operator plan). M3100 is UMTS, EDGE and GPRS. for EDGE/UMTS compatibility sim cards, you need a 3G sim, aka "USIM" (if you already have 3G in the treo, don't care :D) for more informations, dedicated forum to m3100 family (HTC Hermes) is http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showforum=204 Edited August 24, 2006 by scudo

Anyway, I think my work SIM card (GSM) will work in my Vario but won't know for sure until I get it unlocked. Until then I am using the very generous allowance I have fromT-Mobile and have diverted all calls from my work number to my new one. I have also set all texts to auto reply with my new number.
Guest danktuft Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Regarding the migration from Palm to WM5 I found this piece of software. Too late though - I used PocketMirror to sync my Treo with Outlook and then let ActiveSync handle the rest, every single number in my phone book lost the '+' prefix. :D It's called PocketCopy and I found it on www.pocketgear.com http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14599 Hopefully someone else can benefit from it!
