Blackberry for PPC

My Vario II was supplied with an additional CD that contains Blackberry software for pocket PC.

I installed it on my phone, but was unable to register and screwed up the GPRS settings. So I did a hard-reset.

Has anyone got this to work with a regular POP3 account? Do you need to sign-up or register with T-Mobile first?

Cheers, Alex.

the Blackberry software should only be used for connecting to a RIM BES server (corporate mail account).

For normal POP3/SMTP mail etc you can use the built in mail client.

The documentation on the CD implied there was a T-Mobile Blackberry service that you could sign up to and attach your POP3 mail accounts to.

this may well be the case. I'm not a T customer so can't help you with that. Best to probably give TCS a call and see what they say. Should be a means of forwarding your email through to that.

But why you would want to or need to use that I don't understand.

POP3 doesn't support push mail... blackberry server does. That'd be a good starting reason.

I've had a quick play with the Blackberry software as well.

It seems that it supports Corporate mode (so usually connecting to your employer's own Blackberry server) as well as Internet mode (using a phone network provided email account).

I think that you would need T Mobile to add the Blackberry service to your phone account, once that is done you would get the Blackberry software on the phone to register with the service, and you would then go to T Mobile's Blackberry website to sign up for a new account. For this you need the PIN number of the Blackberry software and your IMEI, both of which are shown in the phone software.

Basicaly call T Mobile customer services and see what they can do.
