M3100 and microsd 1gig crashing camera

I recently bought a microSD card for my nice shiny new M3100 - a Dane Elec one from Dixons.

Unfortunately it seems to screw up the camera. I can take one picture fine. When I try to take a second the camera application just quits. Attempts to start it again result in an error message something like "the camera is already open by another appliation". A soft-reset is the only way out.

This only happens whan the camera is configured to save images/videos to the storage card.

Is it possible tha the card is too slow for the camera?

Anyone else heard of/had this problem?

Cheers

I have the same memory card (bought for 19 quid from cclonline.com), and I don't have the same problem as you. I'm using mine in a Vario II, so I'd say you either have a faulty card, faulty SD slot or something with the Orange firmware is a bit off. Judging by the message you get I'd hazard a guess it's the orange firmware customisations in some way.

Might be worth doing the hard-reset and bypass orange customisations thing, to rule out any of the orange applications?

Ok - I hard reset the phone and checked what I installed.

Currently the camera seems to be behaving.

Not exactly sure what the culprit might be - only applications not installed are Devstate task manager and Netfront. I think I can live without those for now!

I have a Vario II with a 2GB Sandisk Micro SD card.

I can take 5 or 6 pictures (2MP, superfine, save to card), but the next picture comes out blank (uniform grey JPG). Try again and the camera application disappears. Re-open and receive "Unable to start application, camera device is in used(sic)".

So is this a storage card or software issue? Is there a way to revive the app or free-up the camera device without soft-resetting?

Cheers.

I've had the most bizarre experience of this bug - specifically that it only happens on certain photos! I tried to take a pic, and it crashed. ok, tried again, the same. reset it, stil lthe same. moved the camera and took something else - no problem, went back to first place, crashed!

Really odd!
