Guest StGeorge Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Got my M3100 yesterday and first impressions are good - now it is registered on the network! My next challenge it to get ActiveSync with exchange working and then push email working and I will be happy! I am facing the old application unlock / installation of self signed SSL Certs problem (which I appreciate are different but they are related, stay with me!!) and in order to fix them I need to tweak the registry - no problem I hear you say!? Well I must be doing something wrong as I download and unpack the Regedit_STG.zip (which is supposed to be okay as it is the HTC signed version) and unpack the zip on the device but I get the following error when trying to run the .exe: "The file 'regeditSTG' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore the application" So I am a bit stuck! Hopefully I am doing something stupid - please help!!! Thanks Ed
Guest gingerprince Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Is the time set right on your phone? I don't know if this will be specifically related, but I do know that certificates generally have start and end valid dates. If your phone is set to a default date which is outside this certificate validation it may be causing it to fail. May be b0l0x, but it's something to rule out...
Guest StGeorge Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 (edited) Is the time set right on your phone? I don't know if this will be specifically related, but I do know that certificates generally have start and end valid dates. If your phone is set to a default date which is outside this certificate validation it may be causing it to fail. May be b0l0x, but it's something to rule out... I am fairly certain the certificate is ok, if I browse to the exchange server I can access the mailbox (using Outlook Web Access over https) which would suggest my certificate is fine...... Actually, thinking out loud here, do you mean the certificate used to sign regedit? That could make sense, maybe the certificate to sign regedit has expired, that is worth a look..... thanks.... will report back! EDIT - Changed the date on the phone to 30 March (which is when the blog I was using was written ) but still no joy, any other help appreciated? Ed Edited August 26, 2006 by StGeorge
