Guest b35ty Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 I currently have a C550, but am looking to upgrade. Basically, I get bored easily and need a new toy. :D I really like the look of the Moto Q, Samsung i320, Excalibur etc etc BUT I want to use these devices to play my music, some several GB worth. The problem is that they use mini-SD slots, and 2GB of storage simply isn't enough. A CF or SD slot would be perfect! But they don't use them anymore, as far as i know. I also love the look of the Samsung i310, an 8gb hard drive would be great, and apparently this phone has excellent sound. However, i've heard no news for several months about this phone. Any news?
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 The reason they use miniSD and microSD is that they use much less power than SD and CF. As the stadard develops the sizes will increase. The Samsung i310 may not ever be released, the i300x which was supposed to have 4gb drive does not appear to have made it to release and the i300 appears to have been withdrawn as well.
Guest w411y Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 The i300 is in stock here http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=124197
Guest b35ty Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 All the websites say that the i310 is expected during the second half of this year, but nothing new has come out for months. If its not out by next year, should i give up on it?
Guest genaldar Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 4gb minisd are available. Granted I haven't seen one from a major manufacturer, but if you're daring you could give it a go.
Guest cng Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 The problem is not MiniSD replacing SD. This is logical and is a neccessary change. However, it is MicroSD and MiniSD that is frustrating me. My girlfriend's phone will use MiniSD and I want to get a Hermes, which uses MicroSD. In the future, we cannot swap cards to listen to each others music or share movies.

Guest cng Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Ya, too expensive for MicroSDs and the adapter is shockingly expensive as well. I checked on ebay. I have a 2 GB MiniSD coming anyways.
