Guest mkent_barbados Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 Hey all, Seems if I hold down my power button to turn my TyTn off, the radio turns off just before the device itself does (turns to an 'x' just before the screen goes off)...and when I restart the radio is still off. If I reset using the reset button in the little hole, no problem the radio comes back on. Is this by design? I find it annoying as its an extra step to get up and running after rebooting...
Guest jimbouk Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 Powering off the device does send a power off to the phone component first, but after restarting it should restart the phone component (albeit after a few seconds). Do you have a sim pin set?
Guest mkent_barbados Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 No pin, and it definately does not restart the phone radio, stays with the little 'x' until I go into coms and hit the flight-mode off button. Hmmm...was hoping this was an ill-thought out feature and not a bug on my particular phone!
Guest mgumbs Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 I seem to get the same symptoms, 7/10 times, the phone will come on when i turn the unit on, the other times, the phone remains off and then i have to maually start it. Wonder if it is a common problem :D No pin, and it definately does not restart the phone radio, stays with the little 'x' until I go into coms and hit the flight-mode off button. Guest NikLP Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Wait, if you hold down the powe rbutton it turns the device off? I didn't know that :D P Now THAT'S funny! :D All the WM5 devices have persistent state storage now I thought, so in theory you should be able to turn them ALL off?
Guest Pondrew Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Now THAT'S funny! :D All the WM5 devices have persistent state storage now I thought, so in theory you should be able to turn them ALL off? The HTC Universal (XDA Exec/MDA Pro/SPV M5000 etc) is the exception and cannot be turned off.
Guest M@rkC Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 The HTC Universal (XDA Exec/MDA Pro/SPV M5000 etc) is the exception and cannot be turned off. .........except for my last M5000 that is, which would randomly turn itself off (usually when you were waiting for a call/text/email from someone) :D Only way to know was to press the power button to see if the screen came on - if not, it was time to give the reset button a poke!! Got a new one now and fingers crossed it's ok! Mark.
Guest Pondrew Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Let me rephrase that. HTC Universals that are not faulty cannot be turned off. :D
