PDA teething problems

Hi, new Vario II user with first PDA. Can someone help with some queries that are probably obvious to regular users.

1) Backlight memory.

Backlight goes off after default 10 seconds non use. I change to 2 minutes in Settings, and with every power save (voluntary - short power off, or involuntary - turn off if not used for 3 mins) it remains. But after Power off for night or during day (5 second hold of power button), it loses its memory and goes back to 10 secs next day. Is this correct - seems a bit silly?

After involutary power off (3 mins non use) is it correct that you have to push power button rather than stylus on screen (like a mouse movement on a PC to break screensave?

2) Intermittant web availability.

I have intermittant www use, ok for 5-10 mins, off for a few and when pages not loading, often get error message 0x80072f78. T-mobile CS said try RESET (Clear Storage) and return unit if still get the message. Anyone know if it is a standard message like 'page cannot be displayed' when no PC net connection available, or something more involved (google search not help a lot as it appears in dufferent cases). Do other users ever get this error?
