Guest cerij Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Just seen this cradle at Expansys. Looks good, but can't understand how it works given that the Strtrk's connector is on the side of the phone - maybe you have to plug it in to the cradle manually every time.
Guest paholman Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 (edited) You slide it in from the left. I wonder if the Cingular 3125 with it's bulkier battery cover would fit this cradle :D . Perhaps it would not be aligned to fit into the charging port. I'm tempted to buy both the cradle and the longer life battery when it's released here but hope the two are compatible :D Edited September 14, 2006 by paholman
Guest cerij Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 The cradle is very well made, two things to note, it connects to the PC via a standard mini-USB port, not the type found on the strtrk. Not a problem as a lead is suppled. Also it does enable sync with Outlook etc.
Guest Survivant Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 For North American people than don't want to pay the exorbitant prices of Expansys (MobilePlanet), I found the same cradle at Semsons and the shipping is amazingly fast! http://www.semsons.com/dos3qt85usbd.html
Guest roma0803 Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I wonder if the phone with the extended battery still fits in the Brodit car holder. It seems it would fit in this desktop charger. Shame Semsons charge $ 29.00 for shipping to The Netherlands... seems Expansys is the only other option.
Guest gacajun Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 I bought the cradle and have a Cingular 3125. You have to slide your phone in sideways to the connection and the height of the connection is meant for the 8500 battery size. The extra thickness of the battery causes the connector to have to flex upwards to connect the 3125. I was able to make the connection and the charging indicator showed on the phone but the phone did not connect correctly to the computer. I got an error message from the tray icon showing "Unrecogneized USB device connected." The data cable supplied with the cradle does not plug into the phone directly, it is too large meaning that this is not the miniUSB connector. I am guessing the pinouts for the miniUSB connector and the special one that is on the side of the 3125 is different causing the error message. So...all that said, if you have a Cingular 3125 this cradle will charge your phone but not sync it.
Guest roma0803 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Thanks for the info gacajun.
Guest mrwickham Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Thanks for the info gacajun. Actually it does both sync and charge. I was having the same issue (only charging and getting the usb not found type error) so I simply swaped the mini usb to usb cable with another cable and what do you know it works perfectly. My guess is that many of these are shipping with faulty cables hence the problem. But the cable from the phone holder to the computer IS a standard mini usb to usb cable. I have the cingular 3125 and while it sits just a little off (more like 92 degress rather than a straight 90) due to the battery it certainly works well. Just thought I should share, as I've seen a few ask the same question. mw
Guest roma0803 Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Thanks for the update mrwickham, and welcome to the forums  Same issue seems to happen with car chargers. There are some cables that just do not connect properly to the phone. Tried two brands before I found a brand that worked well.
Guest markhammill Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 If only they had included and audio in and out then I would have splashed out for one.
