Guest handjive Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 I have a T-Mobile SDA, and I often update my RSS feeds using WiFi at home in order to read them "offline" while somewhere else. For most feeds, this is fine, but some feeds don't auto load certain things (like pictures) and try to connect with GPRS/EDGE to download them when I open them to read. Sometimes that is what I want, but other times, I would rather not waste the data. Other than switching the phone to "airplane" mode, is there a way to prevent data connections with the phone still available for calls? Even better would be a way to have the phone prompt me any time it tries to connect to the data network (like my old Symbian phone used to). Any suggestions? FYI: I'm using the beta version of NewsGator Mobile for Smartphone, but I would like to find a setting that would apply to the entire OS.

If you don't use GPRS, you could edit the GPRS settings to make them invalid (so you can quickly correct them when needed) or delete them altogether. I don't think there is a way to get the phone to ask you each time it tries to get data over GPRS... Pavan
Guest handjive Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 I do use GPRS, I just like to be selective when I do. I'll probably wind up switching to an unlimited plan eventually, but until then, it's nice to keep tighter control on my data use.
