Have got my Vario 2 set up to down load my email automatically, which is great. However when it next logs in any email that is in the inbox and other folders is wiped from the phone. I have looked for it in deleted items and trash file but have had no luck. :D

Can anyone advise me on how to prevent this from happening.

Thanks

No do not use gmail. log on through imap4 to blueyonder.

May be I should clarify what I mean. I can down load email no problem, the problem is when I log back in to check for new mail it wipes all folders, so if I have mail I want to keep it gets removed also.

Have gone back and checked settings and do not see anything that would prevent this from happening.

Apparently this happened to the missus. I haven't had a chance to look at it as of yet but has anyone else got the problem. I AM using gmail.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this?

My Gmail account emails are removed at every scheduled download to my Smartphone, but the emails themselves remain on the server.

I suspect this is something to do with how Gmail have pop-enabled the mailboxes.

From My experience with Gmail and WM5 MDA Pro. If I Download email to either Outlook express or Outlook even with the option to "leave messages on Server" then all existing mail on the device is erased out next sync and only email that has arrived since the last use of the desktop mail client will de dloaded to the phone.

This is actually ideal for me as my MDA Pro is my primary device and I use Outlook to archive my old mail.

If there is ever a need to view an old mail then the PDA version of Gmail is very efficient is searching it out.

Hope my explanation is coorect anf that this helps.

I found a link on another page. If you specify your username (not e-mail address but username...that's an important distinction) as recent:myusername, you get the last 3 or so days worth of mail without things disappearing.

Note: This is a gmail only thing.

Note: The mail still eventually disappears. When I say "3 or so days" it really seems to be that non-deterministic.

Note: The behavior here stinks irrespective of whether it is a g-mail or pocket outlook behavior

I have had the same problem using gmail.

Change the settings to "get message headers only" and tick the box to include 999KB of

message body.

That seems to sort it.
