Guest randomelements Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 How are you finding the battery life on your Hermes variant? Which one do you have and what do you use it for? I'm deliberately discharging my Vario II to go through some full charge/discharge cycles at the moment but wondered what sort of life others are getting.

Errrr, I wouldn't discharge your battery entirely. You will permanently damage it.
Guest trjg Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 I barely got through a day with Push on (30 mins music and browsing no calls). I suspect that the general web connecting problems explained on these boards was forcing Push to keep re-connecting and thus expending more energy. I switched to 60 minute check and tonight after a full charge over night, I'm still at 70%. I've now made both the DNS and Proxy settings change suggested by Paul and will put Push back on tomorrow. I suspect battery life will be much better (I hope!)
Guest randomelements Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Well, direct push always uses the 3G/GPRS even if you're connected to wireless so the radio will always be turning on for these purposes. The direct push heartbeat can be 59 minutes max - the longer interval the better as this will help save battery a bit. I don't know if you run your own server or your direct push is provided by someone else but it's best to check with the your provider/admin what the interval is set to.
Guest jimbouk Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Whatever the server is set to, if the mobile network's IP set up for mobile clients isn't directpush friendly ie your IP address changes all the time), you will find your device doing a manual sync every six-ten minutes anyway.,,
