Guest jhhicks Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Hey MoDaCo folks, I just recieved my Cingular 2125 from my fiance for my birthday! I'm really digging it so far. I hope to get a 1 or 2 gig miniSD card for it in a few days. Quick question, I have the unlimited data plan from Cingular, does that cover videos and music? My guess would be yes, but it doesn't cover text so my guess is just that, a guess. Thanks for you help and I will probably be moving around this section of the forum frequently. Jerry
Guest svtmook Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 (edited) what do you mean by receiving videos and music? downloading them, yes it's covered. i was ensured by the cingular rep many times that anything i download from the internet is covered. as far as an mms, no, it's not covered unless you have an sms plan. but you're best bet would be to dial 611 and ask the cingular rep in reguards to your plan. or check out forums.cingular.com Edited August 30, 2006 by svtmook
Guest jhhicks Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 You answered my question, thanks! :D
Guest svtmook Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 You answered my question, thanks! :D also keep in mind that some cingular data plans will not allow you to stream videos/music. i don't know which unlimited data plan you have since cingular has a medianet, smartphone connect, pda connect and data connect plan. so that's something else to keep in mind. i have the smartphone connect unlimited, but i haven't tried to stream anything since it's really not worth it imo
Guest jhhicks Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 I also have the Smartphone Connect unlimited.
Guest jhhicks Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Got the 2gig MiniSD card last night from Frys for 50$ Also, app unlocked, moved ClearVue and IE temp files over to the storage card. This thing is tons of fun and very cool technology.

This thing is tons of fun and very cool technology. The longer I stay with Cingular, the more convinced I am that they want to confuse the crap out of customers with their data plans. I used to use the MediaNet Unlimited plan until recently, which for $20 a month covered everything (but not messages). Last month they started a new plan called MediaMax 200 which includes 200 messages (SMS/MMS) and unlimited data for the same price. So I switched to that. And now I hear about a plan called Smartphone Connect Unlimited, which sounds a lot like MediaNet Unlimited and costs the same. Then there are other plans called MediaWorks which have nothing to do with data. And with this proliferation of plans and similarity of names, their customer service reps are just as confused as the customers. Bottomline, if you use text messages (SMS), you may be able to save a few bucks if you switch to MediaMax -- check it out. Enjoy your new phone! Pavan

I am not a huge text messeng user, infact I really only have the 50 I have for the ones that I receive. As long as the Smartphone Unlimited stays the same, I'll probably stick with it. BBC News Mobile rocks btw :D I was reading it while eating food and waiting for my night class to start. I know that all of the technology isn't new, but to me it is, and I'm so happy I am apart of it now!

If you like reading BBC News Mobile, you should try listening to BBC World Service radio on your phone. It makes for good alternative listening while driving...
