Guest peekie Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 A new version of tomtom is due to be released in september for both the pocket pc and smartphone with many new features... New product integrates TomTom NAVIGATOR 5 and TomTom MOBILE 5 into one multi-platform solution August 30th 2006, Amsterdam
Guest mwright Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Looks they have "ported" a lot of stuff from the GO's to Navigator. I have a GO 710 with 6.11 software on it with many of those features already present.
Guest Swampie Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Any easy comparison information between TT5 and TT6? Also any idea of pricing for upgrades from TT5? Having TT5 I'd like to know whether it's worth upgrading. One of the features it seems is it can tell you if you're speeding, which is nice. Having the Speed Camera database POI on it is helpful, but I'd prefer a warning if I'm exceeding the speed limit at those points, rather than warning every time - is that what they're introducing?
Guest georgi55 Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I don't know about Europe mps but USA maps on this thing are 5 years old, I bought 910 and returned it.
Guest tsutton Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 >>TomTom NAVIGATOR 6 also includes TomTom
Guest jbevan Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 But does anyone know when Navigator 6 is actually going to be available to buy here in the UK. Nothing about this on Tomtom website and nothing on Amazon or any other website that I could find????
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 At the moment this is only a press release to announce the new version it is not an announcement on the actual release date. This version is more polished than version 5 with a few new features like TomTom Home which makes adding maps, voices etc a much easier task.
Guest FragMeister Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 One of the features it seems is it can tell you if you're speeding, which is nice. Having the Speed Camera database POI on it is helpful, but I'd prefer a warning if I'm exceeding the speed limit at those points, rather than warning every time - is that what they're introducing? The new map data includes "speed limit" information for each road, so that you can be informed on the speed limit and it can then act as your wife (even when she isnt in the car with you) moaning about you "going too fast". Not sure if you might become over-reliant on it, as the council round my way are always reducing the speed limits, and you might end up speeding even though tomtom thinks you aren't - cos the maps are out of date! for speedcamera POI, i personally use those from http://www.pocketgpsworld.com for TTN5.
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Topic locked If you have the pirated\leaked version of TomTom6 please do not post about it here.
