Guest notaliberal Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 (edited) I've no idea what happened. All of a sudden today, my SDA started acting really strange. Now when I boot it, it takes slightly longer, and right after my custom splash shows you see a title bar at the top labeled WinCENotify. That goes away, the screen goes white for about 10 seconds, and then the homescreen paints REALLY slowly, and then all SEEMS well. I have maniac's autokeylock installed, never had any problems. Now, however, after this new development, the keys no longer lock themselves after bootup UNTIL AFTER I HAVE LOCKED/UNLOCKED them myself. [edit]Okay, apparently they dont lock at all until Ive started the keylock config utility and exited back out of it.[/edit] Ive been reg editing all morning, which I imagine had something to do with it, but I have pretty much revisited all the things I changed and nothing seems to help. All I was trying to do today was stop that darn "storage card2" bug from happening. I added an entry into HKLM\System\StorageManager\ called PNPWaitIODelay, and made the value 10000. Now I've gone and deleted that value, but the darn thing still behaves strangely. I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want to do a hard reset. I've never done one, and I don't want to have to start fooling around trying to get everything back the way it was; Re-installing programs, uploading homescreens, all my reg edits, etc. Has anybody ever seen anything like this or have any ideas as to what else I can try? ANY suggestions GREATLY appreciated! If nothing else, can anybody give me some insight as to just how big a pain it can be to restore everything after a hard reset? I've got all sorts of stuff installed on the SD card, including many programs I have paid for. Is there a way to make recovery after a hard reset less painful or time consuming? Thanks in advance, Jeff Edited August 31, 2006 by notaliberal

Thanks in advance, Jeff I remember having this problem a long time ago. Search the forums here for "CheckNotifications". That is a Pocket PC utility which can run on your smartphone and help you delete the redundant notifications that are bothering you. There must be a few posts about it on here... Good luck with the search! Pavan
Guest notaliberal Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Well, looks like I've taken acare of it. I reinstalled autolock, but more importantly I remembered the reg setting I needed to change back. I had reduced the "Duration" value for the startup image to 1000 (1 second), which is why I was seeing things I would not otherwise see. Perhaps that is also what broke autokeylock, perhaps not. I'll probably never know. :D OH well, things are back to normal now, and I didn't have to hard reset. :D Yea.
