You can move the date up by editing the home screen XML. Look at the home screen tutorials on this forum. I don't think you can move the time into the iconbar on top. If you use xbar, if will show the time on the iconbar when you are not on the home screen. If that is the functionality you need, try out xbar3.

Jasperkins did it on a Motorola Q but thats because the width of the screen is 320 and not 240. There could be a way using the Orange plugin but it would have problems I guess

Side note....I think youhave the most unique username on modaco....how exactly is that pronounced?

As w411y noted, your IconBar will loose (or overlay) icons if you try to also add the time field to a 240 width screen. I have the Moto Q with is a 320 screen so technically it has another 80 pixels to use for another field. So I added the time:
