SPV m3100 and tom tom 5 locking up

I've had the m3100 for a week or so now and had problems installing tom tom navigator 5 on it in the first place, I had to copy the cabs over then run each cab to get it to install. I got it to talk to my holux GPslim 236 no problem. I am currently using 5.21 of tom tom 5 if that makes a diference

I had a problem with the PDA freeezing when browsing the menus early on but this seemed to go away.

the problem now is that I can be traveling and the map will stop moving and the screen stops responding, I end up hitting hang up to get back to the main screen then going and closeing the program in memory. I can then run tom tom again but it will repeat the same thing again.

I have even soft reset and it doesnt make any difference it will stop again.

I usually only notice that it has stoped responding is the screen goes off as the charger for my holux gps wont charge the m3100 either but it worked fine for my m500 strange things with this new phone that I really like using. any one know why?

The install issue could be because you are using active sync 4.1 or 4.2. This software wasn't around when TomTom 5 was released so it seems to cause a fault. If you uninstall everything TomTom related (from M3100 and Active Sync), make sure your original TomTom CD is in the CD drive then start the TT 5.21 upgrade executable, it will actually install the components from the CD drive. Weird but it works. Then once the original version is fully installed (on main memory to be safe) and maps transferred to SD card, remove the CD.

Next run the TT 5.21 upgrade and it will uninstall TT 5.0 and install 5.21 and then reset the device. Should all work fine after that.

Make sure your phone doesn't go into standby, so you will need to apply power to the phone at all times while running TT OR change your power/backlight settings so the phone doesn't turn off the screen or the phone while on battery.

Only other tip is to try and use the highest baud rating for your Holux.

I just tried my GPSlim236 car charger with my m3100 and it doesnt work either :D , prehaps it needs the full 1A rather than 850mA ??

Im also havin the problem where the m3100 falls asleep (auto lock/standby) during tomtom, if anyone knows a solution not involving a car charger, pressin a few buttons every so often, or changing settings let me know.

OK i have an SPV m3100 and I have been looking everywhere on the web to find out if TOM TOM will work on my phone and it does not confirm it on the TOM TOM website. Can anyone tell me if it work or do I have to put a certain version on or load it on the phone instead of the sd card. Anyway if someone could throw some light on this I would be most grateful.

Im having exactly the same problem with tomtom 6 on my SPV M3100.

It just hangs - sometimes on the tomtom menus sometimes whilst driving

pressing the END CALL button to return to home screen then the small tomtom icon in the bottom corner to return into tomtom sorts problem out.

It hangs/freeze/crashes randomly - can be every 10 seconds to 5 minutes.

I have tried a hard reset and reloaded tomtom with no other apps.
