Guest fingery Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 Hi guys, I've only recently started using 3G and notice that my GPRS data counter no longer works as there is no specific connection to monitor with 3G (or doesnt appear to be on the HTC MTeoR). How can i monitor 3G data usage? TIA :D
Guest martin Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 Hi guys, I've only recently started using 3G and notice that my GPRS data counter no longer works as there is no specific connection to monitor with 3G (or doesnt appear to be on the HTC MTeoR). How can i monitor 3G data usage? TIA :D You monitor ALL data usage using your GPRS counter regardless of the radio network :D Whether its 2G, 2G EDGE, 3G, 3G HSDPA - it's still GPRS for data transfer. I don't know if it would be possible to have GPRS counter software differentiate between them.
Guest fingery Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 :D Hmm.. Maybe i'm being simple here but i've not setup any connection info and on the version of SPB GPRS monitor i have i need to choose a connection to log data for. I'm using a new HT MTeoR and haven't configured any GPRS/3G connections. I just put my SIM in and it magically works. As i've no connection defined there is no connection for me to choose to monitor under options in the software.
Guest martin Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 I've not used SPB GPRS monitor but I imagine the connections to be monitored are the data connections in the phone i.e Internet connection, Work connection and WAP connection. Do you have these as an option in the SPB application ? Have you actually checked the HTC MTeoR data settings to see what is created there ?
Guest martin Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 I've just tried SPB GPRS monitor and can see that the software uses the GPRS connection itself. I also noticed that it can't set a separate tariff for each connection which is dissapointing. The SPB software doesn't distinguish between 2G and 3G although TBH you shouldn't really need to. Charging is determined by which APN you are using and your tariff, and not the radio network.
