A few (maybe basic) questions

So am very impressed with the Vario II so far, but have a few questions: If anyone can answer any of these I would be very pleased!!!!

Firstly, is there any way to add your own text message sounds (ie mp's)? I can't see a way to do this at all?

I currently run pocket diary and sbp plus - what i'd really like to do is have icons for people i call regularly on my today screen. It';s possible to put icons for shortcuts to opera and any oither files, but I can't see a way to do it for contacts.

How do you guys turn the sound on/off? On the MDA compact there was a button on the side of the phone which was fine - i find it annoying having to press the picture of a speaker at he top of the phone (hard to do without the stylus).

Finally, on my MDA compact i had a button on the bottom left hand corner of the today screen which said "new" - when i pressed it it gave me options to do a new note, nbew text message, new email etc. This was really useful, as now if i want to do a new email, i have to go to messages, select my email or texts, etc. Is there any way to add this option on the Vario II?

Really finally - i'd like to be able to go straight into msn messenger with one button - instead, the option is embedded into pocket msn - which then gives you a list of options - such as hotmail, etc etc. Anyway way to do this?

Many many thanks for anyone that posts any replies!

text message sounds need to be wav files, put them in the windows folder and then select them in sounds and notifications.

you can assign the spb pocketplus MUTE function to a hardware button to turn the sound off.

there is a reg hack to change the softkey functions. do a search.

don't think pocketplus allows contacts on the today screen but there are other photo contact apps that allow you dial by clicking a pic on the today screen.

As basic a question as they come! - has anyone found the screen protector ideal, without air bubbles however hard they try to squeeze on? Many people retain it?

I aligned it with the top left of my screen (wrongly) assuming it would be the right size. Big mistake. I now have a 'groove' running down the right hand side and bottom between the screen protector and the lip of the case which, as it transpires, is where all the scroll bars are, where the space bar is on the keyboard, etc, etc. This sometimes makes it really hard to actually scroll since the stylus slips in the 'groove' which is on the edge of the scroll bar and doesn't really 'grab' it. For the keyboard space bar the stylus often slips off the edge of the protector and closes the keyboard input. Very annoying.

Oh, and it looks sh*t.

I will be removing it in the very near future. I would consider putting a new one on, although they always make the screen look much worse, IMHO.-

There's a softkey app in Start / Settings / Personal on all T-Mobile devices so no reg hack needed.
