Vario II battery 90% full

Hi, sometimes when I charge from a mains charger it seems to stick at 90%, any body know why?

I've noticed this twice so far... it seems to stick on 90 % for ages if I am charging for a few hours during the day, but has always charged to 100% when I charge overnight (only had it for 4 days though!). Might be the nature of the battery control circuitry - fast charge til 90% then trickle the rest? this seems to be the way my I-pod mini charges for example...
