How to get Black background for Softkeys?

COLOR_TRAYGRADLEFT at #000000 still only produces grey. Do I need to start using a color scheme XML too? I havent dived into that XML yet :-)

I'm trying to change the Soft Menu background to all Black- instead of the grey:
