Orange SPV C500 crashing

I really don't have a clue about these things and thought you experts might know a little bit more about it.

My SPV C500 seems to crash a lot these days. Do any of you know any reason why a smartphone will crash? It also fails to fully synchronize at times when I USB it up then activesync it. I;ve tried newer verions of activesync too. The newest one I have being Activesync 4.1.0.

I've had the phone for over a year. It's running Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. Version 4.21.1008 (Build14217) . I have a 512Mb MiniSD installed with only a couple of programs on it. Can someone first off tell me how to wipe this memory card clean? Is it as simple as exploring the phone and deleting all the content on it or is there a way to actually format this MiniSD?.

I'd like to save some text messages, are these saved to the phone's hard drive, the memory card or the sim card?

So to get down to the nitty gritty.....Could the card be crashing (hanging) and not synchronizing due to:

The battery dieing? I've noticed sometimes I need to charge it once a day, other times it's every other day.

Something to do with the memory card?

Some dodgy program on the phone?

Or is the Phone just defunct?

All help appreciated.

Hi

I can't answear all your questions (especially "why does it crash..."), but let's try some..

- activesync lastest version is 4.2. but I don't think it will change anything to your synch error.

is the internal memory (not SD) of C500 full or near to full ?

- to delete progs on sd, first uninstall them (either from activesync or from add/remove in settings)

- if you want to erase the card, you can format it from computer using an adapter & a card reader..

- for messages saving, they are on the phone (not SD) have a look a jeyo mobile extender or jeyo mobile companion on www.jeyo.com

- if you want, you could upgrade the C500 ROM (see orange website), this may solve some bugs...

It's called MiniSD 512mb my kingmax. I purchased if from the Modaco shop last year, possibly the year before. I've just removed it from my phone (I don't know why i didn't try this earlier) but my phone has managed to fully sync and it isn't crashing when I open up programs. I wish I'd done this ealier.

I'll look into getting the new Rom upgrade from Orange. When I work out how to. Thanks dude. :-)
