miniSD vs. SD card

Hi all

I purchased a 1G SanDisk miniSD card for use with a smartphone and am trying to use it on a Samsung i730 pocket pc. It has a little sleeve it slips into to make it the size of a SD card. ppc doesn't seem to recognize it. Can I use this card on a pocket pc?? Or does it need to be re-formatted, or something?
