Guest Beeble Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Looking for a good value car charger for the Vario II. If it's part of multi-charger pack, so much the better. Couldn't track one down on Brando.hk and the pictures of the other ones I've seen look like they have the wrong connectors. Neither Orange or T-Mobile shops that I've tried have them... Anyone?
Guest randomelements Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 I've seen one for SDA/MDA in the T-mobile shop with the small USB connector (don't know if it's OK for the Vario II though). It was

Not sure if it's any help, but a few weeks ago I picked up an Orange branded accessory pack for my SPV C550 from an Orange shop. Cost

I have a cigar lighter / USB socket adapter. Can't remember where it came from as it's a few years old now but I'd guess they're cheap. I've used it with regular USB-miniUSB lead and also a Brando retractable version. Both charge the Vario II OK.

Guest Iggy82 Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 I've got a Motorola V3x and the in-car charger and the mains charger are both mini USB type. Does anyone know if I can use either or both of these to charge my Vario II??
Guest Beeble Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Thanks all. I had tried the shops but T-Mobile had none in stock and the guy in Orange was adamant the 500 connector wouldn't fit LOL So gone with the ebay suggestion - pretty handy 'cos I just got a

Guest mwright Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 So can you use any mini USB car charger on the Vario II? There aren't any voltage/current differences etc? I am not sure - I have had some problems trying to charge my M3100 in the car with one of those cigar->USB devices. Mine seems to charge fine when the M3100 has gone into standby, but refuses to charge with it "live". Of course, it might just be my combination of adaptor, lead, M3100 that causes this! YMMV
Guest MacHooligan Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Have this one myself... http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?partner=modaco&i=139746
Guest cleandemon Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 What is the score with car chargers for the Vario II? I have tried to use an existing charger (well it's an adaptor that you can plug usb cables into) I have that I used to use for the SPV E100 but it isn't working. It has started charging the Vario once, and other times the orange light/charging symbol has come on momentarily but then gone off. Is the phone faulty, or do I just need to buy a specific car charger for it?

I went into a t-mob store, and they said that the mda one was compatible. I bought it anyway.... Worked fine for a week then got this really bad burning smell.... The vario 2 was also getting very hot.. Took it back to them the sales person says that its not compatible and I couldn't exchange it as I didn't have a receipt and the guy that looks up receipts was only going to be in on thursday. (if he can look it up) The motorola one has been known to short out the battery... I decided to only go for legitimate one chargers that mention the phone... and to never buy anything from a t-mobile store again.... Edited March 30, 2007 by proindigo
Guest bingobob Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 I just went for this one - hope it arrives tomorrow. For 3 quid (delivered), seemed rude not to! ebay link It's sooooo cheap, I'm a bit concerned it might damage my beloved Vario II, can anyone comment if it will be OK? Also planning to use it to charge my GPS reciever. BT-321 Holox.
