Guest rpatten Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Hi, New to the SmartPhone, but I just picked up a SDA from work, works great, does about everything I can think of wanting my phone to do except GPS.... I loaded GoogleMaps from the google.com/gmm website, works great on the SDA, kinda small print, but works better than getting lost. I loaded it and tested it out, works great. But I shut down the program and now I can't find it on my phone anywhere, it isn't listed as a removable program, but when I go to the site again to redownload, it just reinstalls and says it is already installed. So, where do Java Applets go when they are installed on the SDA, I cant find anything anywhere on the web about how to access the program. Any help would be appreciated.
Guest notaliberal Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 (edited) Been there! The SDA hides the java apps manager. YOu have to do this, either from your phones file manager (you have to UNcheck the "Hide files in ROM" box under options first, or you wont' see the file I'm abou tto refer to), or from activesync... Go to \windows look for jmm.exe >if in phone file manager >>select it, menu, file, create shortcut, then browse to \windows\Start Menu and choose Done. from active sync, go to \windows and right click jmm.exe go to \windows\Start Menu and right click somewhere and choose Paste Shortcut. Now you'll be able to find your java stuff right from the start menu. Don't remember if you need to reboot after that or not. Good luck, Jeff Edited September 12, 2006 by notaliberal
Guest bshpmark Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Even T-Mobile tech support could not help me when I had the same problem. The file you need is called jmm.exe and it is a hidden file in the \windows directory. You will need to unhide the files first, the find that file with the explorer and create a shortcut to it in your \sindows\start up directory. From then on you can run JMM from the start menu and Google Maps will show up as a Java app.
Guest rpatten Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Awesome Guys, thanks, I have gotten more help in 1 day than I ever did from anywhere else online with my POS V3 Razr. I love the windows based system too, very easy to use and understand.
