Guest pdtp Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 i was doing some math with my Phone's calc program and i relized it was automaticly rounding up. :D any1 know of a way to turn this off?
Guest hotphil Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 what was the calculation? I can't get mine to round up... there are I believe third-party calculator programs out there that you may want to try.

Ha, that is all kinds of messed up. What the hell?
Guest adchaffey Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 :D Mine does it to! Ha, that is all kinds of messed up. What the hell? I think it's because of the number of significant figures it's allowing. If you do 3 * 3.33333333 you get the correct answer of 9.99999999 But then simply add 1 (i.e. 9.99999999 + 1) and you get 11! So it can only handle 9 figures.
Guest pdtp Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 yea it can only handle 9 figures but it rounds the 10th figure into the 9th. i simply dont want it to do that. i have a reg. calculator that has a swith on the tom that will make it round the 13th figure into the 12th (it can only handly 12 digets) and i get the same answer's as my PPC. i just want to turn that 10th figure rounding off. but im thinking its going to be built into the program and not a reg setting :D I think it's because of the number of significant figures it's allowing. If you do 3 * 3.33333333 you get the correct answer of 9.99999999 But then simply add 1 (i.e. 9.99999999 + 1) and you get 11! So it can only handle 9 figures.
